Hilltop Gardens were incorporated in Texas. Her daughter, Phyllis Schmidt, developed cosmetics using Aloe vera gel. Hilltop Gardens is the first business using Aloe vera gel as an ingredient in cosmetics.
Lee Ewald (1897 - 1981) and her husband Sherman Ewald (1971 d) purchased 100 acres as one of the first commercial Aloe farms in the country.
